"...I've seen the bridges of the world and they're for real;
I've had a red light of the wrist without me even gettin' kissed
It still seems so unreal.
I've seen the morning in the mountains...
I've seen the sunset in the east and in the west;
I've sang the glory that was Rome ,
And passed the hound dog singer's home;
It still seems for the best.
Chorus
And I'm far, far away
with my head up in the clouds
And I'm far, far away
with my feet down in the crowds
Lettin' loose around the world
But the call of home is loud still as loud
I've seen the Paris lights from high upon Montmartre
And felt the silence hanging low in no mans land;
And all those Spanish nights were fine,
It wasn't only from the wine;
It still seems all in hand.
...;
And all those arigato smiles
Stay in your memory for a while;
There still seems more to come."

"What though the radiance which was once so bright
Be now for ever taken from my sight
Though nothing can bring back the hour
Of splendor in the grass, of glory in the flower
We will grieve not, but rather find
Strength in what remains behind."
In the cold light of dawn, reality seems so harsh. There are no filters on one's thoughts and that is when one must listen to oneself.

Once upon a time...
...a mountain man attended a University. This however is not a fairytale. It is a real life story and the mountain man is me. I studied law and experienced life at its best at high altitudes. The mountains were the Natal Drakensberg and I discovered myself in those mountains. It has been both a curse and a blessing.
I used to hike with one or two or three close friends at 3,000 metres above sea level for days at a time carrying a 30 kilogram pack on my back. Myself, Ab, Craig, Nicholas and Philip used to sleep in caves and in tents. Snow, rain, wind, hail, sunshine, miss and clouds. Nothing stopped us from reaching the top not even hypothermia or being trapped in a snow storm without food could stop us from living.
Nowadays, my life has changed. Life is still for living but just the environment has changed. Shoulderbags have replaced the backpack and cityscapes have replaced the landscapes. But then I guess that is a consequence of age.
I hope you enjoy what I have done so far.
